Voodoo-X 1.5 BETA
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a beta version of Voodoo-X 1.5. Please use with caution. It
may still be unstable or contain bugs.
!!!SO SAVE ALL OF YOUR WORK BEFORE TESTING THIS SOFTWARE!!!
Version 1.5 has been in development and beta status for a few months
now. Since it's nearly a year since the last version was release I
though I should at least release a public beta. Hopefully all those
people who have asked for an update will be happy now. :-)
If you already have Voodoo-X 1.4 installed, please don't
overwrite the 1.4 executable with this new executable. You've
been warned! Instead, create a new directory called Voodoo-X-BETA
and run it from there.
Note: Due to the recent death of my Amiga (hence the reason this
release is so late), this version is developed under UAE, until I get
a replacement mobo. UAE can emulate an 040, but unfortunately it
can't actually emulate a proper MMU. Which is essential for tracing
illegal memory accesses when developing applications under the Amiga.
This means you might encounter a few MuForce/Enforcer hits while
running Voodoo-X, if you do, please send the details to me - thanks.
(email them to: mechanismx@lineone.net)
p.s. If you don't know what an Enforcer hit is, please ignore the
above paragraph. :-)
Enjoy. :-)
Notes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To run this version correctly please make sure you have the latest
versions of the following installed:
xadmaster.library (v10 or better).
MUI with NList, NListtree, Listtree & Speedbar classes.
(All of these are available on Aminet)
To take advatage of the improved client information window, please
make sure you have Stuart Caie's XAD Clients guide in the program
dir. Also, openurl.library is required to make the e-mail addresses
and web addresses clickable.
Contact
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you're having problems or encounter any bugs/enforcer hits,
etc. please contact me at mechanismx@lineone.net. I get a lot
of mail, so please put Voodoo-X in the subject line. Thanks.
New things in VX 1.5
----------------------------------------------------------------------
- Support for Simone Tellini's SpeedBar MUI class. Buttons can now be
configured to suit. Thanks to Martin Merz for taking the time to
draw the images for me.
- Support for Carsten Scholling's NListtree.mcc.
- Archive information window (will be extended in future versions).
- Major speed improvements when loading archives. Which possibly make
VX faster than most other archiver front-ends now. :-)
- Improved client information window.
- Support for archives with multiple portions.
- Improved temporary file handling.
- The About window now shows the history file.
- Low memory handlers.
- More shell arguments
- Overwrite requesters now popup when extracting.
- Several versions of XAD have been released since the last Voodoo-X
release. This version has been updated to take advantage of new XAD
features such as multiple portions and so on.
- Lots of general improvements (See history file for more details).
Known problem/issues (be patient)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
- No locale.library support yet.
- Lack of documentation (I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to
updating the 1.4 docs to 1.5 :-/ ).
- You need to quit and restart to see new changes made to the toolbar.
Thanks
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to those people who sent gifts! If you're one of these
people and requested a feature, sorry for the delay, it should
be in there. If not, mail me and I'll see what I can do. :-)
